In 1978 I started my first Saturday job in Argos, which, in the town I lived in was in the basement under other shops. I worked in the warehouse, picking purchases to take for the customer to collect.
In those days, Binatone had a game that consisted of tennis, football and squash which was in black and white, and the picture was just white moveable rectangles in a frame, two each side for football, one each side for tennis, and two on one side for squash. The game was an orange box which connected to the TV via the aerial socket and the controls were just smaller boxes with dials on them.
My brother purchased our first one, which didn’t work for long, and we then clubbed together to buy one with a gun, both purchased from Argos with staff discount. It was then set up on our black and white TV.
I’m afraid, my way of playing was to wiggle the little rectangles up and down in the hope that I might hit it. I think it might have annoyed my brother somewhat, and he probably preferred to play with my sister!
